Hello friends, I hope you are doing well! A question I get a lot is: what is Reiki? And it dawned on me, perhaps some of you have wondered this as well. A short answer: Reiki is a Japanese word and its kanji translates to “sacred energy.” It is also a healing modality which has roots in Japan. However, the concept of “sacred energy” can be found in most, if not all, indigenous cultures throughout the world. Reiki is just one system of energy healing and one which has grown in popularity in the US since the 1970s. So popular in fact, if you watched White Lotus season 1/episode 1, Jennifer Coolidge’s character makes a plea for a spa appointment saying:

Of course! I laughed…and cringed. The proliferation of Reiki in the US, like anything, has good and bad aspects. When practiced and taught with integrity, Reiki can be a beautiful and transformative offering. I believe the more people have access to experiences like that, the better. The downside is how the practice is easily dismissed as “woo” and pseudoscience. Weekend certifications which confer “mastery,” spiritual capitalism, distrust of anything we can’t explain with our rational minds, and our own disconnect from nature all play a part in the negative aspects. Over the last 6 years that I’ve been practicing, I realized there could be a better way to learn than the weekend workshop model. So I finally created an offering which provides a deep dive into the history of Reiki, energy as medicine, and more time to learn, to practice, and to feel more confident in the modality and yourself as a practitioner. Tiendaan Night Market is a quarterly outdoor market event I help produce with my friends at KIN Unified Healing and Kailukuan School of Indigenous Sciences. The theme for this season’s market is a 90s Valentine Dance! We have so many delicious food vendors and gift vendors popping up. On stage, we’ll have a best dressed Sadie Hawkins couple contest, live dance performances, and the DJ will be spinning those 90s slow jams! I’m also setting up shop at the market! I’ve restocked my Living Tea inventory and made two new bath salts inspired by LOVE and I’m pretty excited about them: Altar of the Goddess (top): inspired by a matcha rose latte. An epsom salt base with matcha, vanilla, white flowers, sweet orange, and dried rosebuds. Sacred Self (bottom): A blend of Himalayan and Dead Sea salts, blue cornflowers, champaca, and ylang ylang. Each 8oz jar is $20. I’ll also be selling 45ml vials for $10.

LEARN WITH ME - REIKI: THE FIRST TEACHINGS

If you’re curious about energy work, if you are ready to start your journey on the healing arts path, and/or if you’d like to deepen your relationship with yourself, this offering may be for you. This mentorship container will take place over the course of 3 months (about 6 sessions) and culminate in the level one attunement and a few weeks later, the level one Holy Fire placement.
