It’s been awhile friends!

I went deep into my hermit cave over winter and spring. Truth be told, I emerged around the solstice, but I’ve always been a late bloomer.

Over these months, I was actually quite busy. Busy doing and also…contemplating. Like, did you know that the word “business” is derived from the old english word “bisignis” which means “anxiety?” Google it!

A few months ago, in a period of peak bisignis, I was given the advice to create simply for the sake of creating. Sounded easy enough.

However, for me, arriving at the simple meant shedding layers like the one labeled “inner critic” aka: the ego. The ego is great at its job - keeping us small, even when no one is looking.

What I’m learning is at the core of non-critical creativity is curiosity. And curiosity brings all sorts of interesting guests to the party. Curiosity invites experimentation. When we give ourselves permission to experiment, the ego becomes more quiet. Experimentation invites presence. Presence invites being. And when we’re fully occupied with being, there is simply no room for bisignis.

I started Native Apparatus eight years ago, as a side project. I was working full time, but wanted to create a digital space to feature my wellness interests and offerings.

In 2020, the script flipped. Wellness became a full time endeavor with marketing projects here and there. Today, there is a little more balance between the two.

I have been wondering how they might merge, or at least how I might present them together. In a flash of recent inspiration, I finally created this site which leads to both hemispheres of my world. It’s a work in progress, but as I said at the top, I’m experimenting!
